Massage has become woven into the Revive experience. Sue Lancaster has been on hand throughout our weekends, doing a power of work and listening to guests. What does she think it adds to Revive?
The massage simply brings it all together. It relieves tightness and tension – people are often feeling parts of their bodies that have been long forgotten after they’ve completed yoga practice. It also brings about a nurturing, deeper connection to the body as it is, right here and now, in this very moment. What better way to be fully present in your body than through intuitive, healing massage.
Massage therapists all bring an individual approach – what has influenced Sue’s practice?
Oh, interesting! I have a bone deep thirst for understanding the knowledge and the narrative that our bodies give us. Massage is so much more than a mechanical ‘fix’. Bodies, hold a maelstrom of wisdom. We have so much to learn if we are able to get out of our busy minds and drop into our felt experience in life through our physical form. And it is this approach that holds the underlying premis of my bodywork practice.
Being a good listener is key in more ways than one.
Before any massage, I listen to what people say. And by combining this with the story their body tells me, as I start the session, helps me bring in the tools and techniques I have at my (literal) fingertips to ensure a nourishing session. I provide a heartfelt and authentic practice that really does make a huge difference to people who come to see me for therapeutic massage.
