Alan Lambie has performed internationally as a dancer, most famously with Kylie on the Showgirl tour. True! So in-between sessions on our next Revive Days you can learn more about his dancing career, working with pop divas and how that informs the yoga practice he shares with you.
Why did you decide to become a yoga teacher?
After retiring from dance I wanted to find a job that still used my skills as a teacher and gave me the ability to move. I tried working in a desk job but my body was literally aching to move. Yoga and movement helped get past the aches that came from the postural pain of being sat at a desk for hours.
What do you enjoy about teaching?
I really enjoy seeing clients get to know their body, have trust in their body and then begin to create a practice to get stronger and even more knowledgable.
What is your favourite part of your own practice?
I enjoy back bending. It is something I can notice from the beginning of a practice to the end. Not many clients enjoy it as they instantly think they will hurt themselves. The truth is they are more likely to hurt themselves bending forward than backward. Back-bending, due to the fearful aspect of these poses, allows clients to really listen to their body and feel where they can create space and move further.
Join Alan on 22nd September, 27th October or 24th November in Edinburgh for fantastic vinyasa flow and yin sessions as part of a revitalising Revive Day or Weekend. Or contact us to arrange a bespoke group booking for your hen weekend, friends’ weekend or special birthday. Alan can throw in some Kylie dancing as an extra activity 🙂
